About Membership in the NBMC

What does it mean to join the NBMC?

Membership in the National Bitter Melon Council is free and for everyone! There is no requisite number of Bitter Melons you need to have eaten; no number of dishes you must have made; no experience necessary. The only thing that we ask is interest in making the membership experience personally relevant to you.

Our goal in building a membership network is to grow a community of consumers, producers, and people exploring whether it is actually better living through Bitter Melon. We invite you to join the network and make the experience anything you want it to be.

What kinds of things could an NBMC member do?

  • Cook Bitter Melon for your friends and loved ones, or even strangers
  • Grow Bitter Melon in your home garden or farm
  • Ask for Bitter Melon at your local grocery store or farmer's market; you could even ask for it in your CSA share
  • Explore NBMC New Market, New Research, and New Consumer initiatives for Bitter Melon relevant to your area
  • Explore experientially the NBMC motto: Better Living through Bitter Melon
  • Try the NBMC franchise model in your area [link here]
  • Nothing at all

We would love to hear how you are crafting your membership experience. Email us or post to the Bitter Melon Discussion Forum (coming soon).

You can officially become a member by filling out our online membership form. This form allows you to pick your own official member title from a list we provide, or create your own. After you fill out the form, a pop-up window will come up that includes a printable NBMC Membership Card with your name and new Member title. Carry this with you as a reminder of the expanding community coming together around bitterness.
